So?
The other company has got Apple trade marked. They are both in common use but are protected when used in the computer industry.

Apple isnt using Ms for using the term windows, something apple said way before MS. You also dont see apple using MS for using Word, or OFFICE either.
MS can NEVER be orginial they just steal ideas from apple.
Like I said, they could easily call their app store WinApp Store or even Mobile App Store and it would be fine, but they want to be cute and copy apple and just call it app store.

Exactly.
What a waste. You're failing to see the big picture. People willing to commit armed robbery don't go away quietly into the night once their done. They go on to commit more crimes, some of which might involve bodily harm to you or others.

I am so glad that I didnt sell my ipod. I would really be kicking myself if I had of jumped the gun....taking a hit on the price plus having to pony up money to essentially buy back the same ipod.

you guys do realize gas is like 9 dollars a gallon in europe right?
Well with a minimum wage of 19 bucks I imagine it is not as much of any issue as it is in America. Plus European countries aren't nearly the size of the United States, so driving is done less.(also likely one of the reasons for less drinking and driving accidents and deaths...along with being introduced to drinking at a younger age in most countries there)

What does this mean for the long-rumored widescreen ipod? Are they saving the new samsung 120gig drives for that? Will they wait until the hype dies down then hit it hard with the new 6g ipod like last year? Personally I like the updates, better battery, brighter screen, gapless playback(!), more storage. I just don't want to buy this and then have an uber ipod out in a month's time...Keep Your Powder Dry. It's coming. When we don't know. But no doubt on the way.

there is no such thing as charity in america, it always comes through commerce. why not just donate the $200 bux? does a lot more than the 10 bux you are donating now, so you can justify getting a new ipod. hell i would buy a red ipod just cos of the color, if they're gonna do this they might as well just donate 10% of all ipod sales. at least it does something.
"Hi i'm bono, there's a huge aids problem in africa and people don't pay attention, heres a new ipod"
wtf.
Wow, that's a big statement. You're right, of course.
It's kinda like if there was a healthier Big Mac. Healthier because it comes with a whole grain bun.

I'd have thought a sensible company like Apple would have released the phone unlocked, advertise it independantly, and let people work things out on their own, as well as providing it as a contract phone.
If Apple thought the music labels and movie studios were greedy and overcharged for their products, hoo hoo, they'd better get ready for the phone networks.

Woohoo! 3GHz here we come. As was mentioned before, though, a mid-sized tower priced at the iMac level (but upgradable) would be the final logical step in the Apple product line. That would leave Woodcrest to the high end MacPro with its quad configuration.
Try 4Ghz...Anandtech in their review (http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2795&p=18) overclocked their X6800 to a stable 4Ghz.

That section states that by turning off Location Services, the data won't be tracked/collected. I think that these guys are saying that the data still is being collected, regardless of what your Location settings are.
from: http://www.tuaw.com/2011/04/20/your-iphone-is-silently-and-constantly-logging-your-location/
What evidence, though? Just stating it means nothing. Prove it. Show us the data from that time when it was off.

I was really curious if the 5.5 G iPod has the same back finish as the U2 special edition. That would make things a lot better imo

Is the global sales growth drop due to Windows? How many percent gain of the overall OS market has Apple gained with the 26% increase in Mac sales?
Windows representing AFAIK at least 90% of the worldwide installed base, the dip in PC demand is all linked to a drop of Windows PC demand.
Apple's global market share progressed by 1.4 point YoY to 4.6% in Q1 2011. In US figures, Mac market share progression is similar, 1.5 to 8.5%.
Those figures do not include iPad and other tablets and include netbooks.
And a little correction: Mac growth is actually 28%, not 26% as I wrote before.

what I'm waiting for now:
apple cinema display with thunderbolt port and ability to plug mouse/keyboard and use it as an extension for macbooks with thunderbolt.
that would be something like a great docking station. just plug it in and go for it.

I did, at the time, it said mid-product cycle. And I had to have the computer for school, so I had to get it then. I'm just sad.
I know your pain... Just this friday I received an unexpected e-mail from the Uni, telling me to fill the paperwork for the Erasmus (an european interchange programme, for which I supposedly was not accepted for having not-so-great grades... :o )! Now I'll probably have to get a MacBook come September, whether it has a Core Duo or a Core 2 Duo inside... I'm figuring it will have the first, even though the latter would be preety sweet. Damn!
Anyway, either processor will kick my rev.A 20'' iMac G5's ass any day of the week (13'' is tiny, but I can always get an external monitor to go with it later when I come back, now that you can hook'em up without the need for hacks...)!

I'm thinking of a 3-monitor gaming/sim setup. No desk - think cockpit.
iRacing with Bootcamp and x-plane should be amazing w/ this set-up ;-)
Oh, yeah, and FCP and Aperture of course... This will be for work.. honest!

Exactly. There was no violence, no rowdiness. This is how the current mindf*cks work. People hear that a group or activist with views counter to the needs of govenrment and big business and their heads immediately fills with images of extreme millitancy. As I said - they handed out leaflets. That's it.
It's the same when the intelligence services and police stage 'terror raids' on houses where the inhabitants have no connection to terror. People immediately think 'Ahh, they've got those terrorist scum...' When the suspects are released without charge no one asks how zero evidence can possibly lead to an armed raid.
They're playing the 'game' like everyone else. It's about leverage from one group over another and today's parameters are the environment and how we agree to perceive change.
If enough faces on the media can say "there is a consensus amongst scientists" then the easier science 'theory' can become science 'fact' and there we have the the most valuable tool known to man - "A bigger stick to beat people with."
Admit it, greenpeace are playing the 'game'
The problem came to a head when one woman complained that they had placed an apple in her childs pram and were taking photographs of him without her permission.

It's illegal. Police need to publicly announce check points before setting up. Ironic they would want to pull the app since this is the basis that makes them legal in the first place.
I'm not sure that's the case in Texas, but I will acquiesce since I don't remember that from school and also am typing on my iPhone. Either way, the app is still a good one, and shouldn't be removed.

You're right it's just like the ages old Mac verses PC debate can't really compare them.
It really comes down to want you need to do and how much you are prepared to spend.
It's not even the technology's price that's the difference, that's decided by another company. it's the technologies that are hard to compare.
